Nursery Design

Prior to becoming a doula, I worked solely in interior design and architecture firms, and am a credentialed Interior Designer. Not only am I able to create an aesthetically beautiful space for you, but I will ensure it is functional and safe, and ready to receive you and baby. 

Together, we will start by reviewing your desired aesthetic and baby-care needs, space layout and constraints, and desired budget. I will help you formulate a list of functional items needed such as a crib, changing table, storage, diaper pail, etc. and then we will work those into a cohesive and well-designed space. Following the initial consultation, you will receive two aesthetic options to choose from which we will refine together. I will present a final design package that will include your selections in both a visual overview and an itemized list that you can use to make purchases. I will assist you with the final touches, do a final safety check and help style the room for a photoshoot, if desired.

Purchasing, receiving, storing, assembling, or returning furniture or accessories; the family makes and coordinates all purchases and deliveries.

DESIGN PROCESS

  • Preceded by an intake questionnaire sent on booking. This call is about how you live rather than aesthetics. We will document an agreed budget and a targeted completion date, working backward from 36 weeks.

    *We would ideally start the process by 24 weeks.

  • I will come to your home for a full survey of the space, noting outlet/switch/window locations, natural light, door swings, and existing furniture and accessories you’re planning to use. I will also take note of any delivery logistics or constraints that we need to consider prior to ordering anything.

  • I will present a full walkthrough of the design. One revision round is included, returned in five business days. Your approval releases the purchase list, and the purchase list carries an order-by date. *You, the client, will be purchasing all items selected.

  • I will place, style, hang, anchor, dress, and take photos. Following this phase, the room will be ready for baby!

    *This excludes furniture assembly, painting, wallpaper hanging, or anchoring into masonry or plaster that needs specialty hardware.
